The rehabilitation project of the Matala’s dam – built in 1959 – increases the production of electricity and improves the conditions to use retained water in a wide area of irrigated land. It also provides more safety conditions to population in what regards the disposal of the flow of full.

The Environmental Impact Study examined the consequences of this project and concluded that the negative impacts are fully offset by the positive impacts generated.
